about

This album began as an art project/challenge to complete a different composition every month of the year. Each song began with a certain vision in mind, whether it was to "illustrate a day in the life of the month (That One Day in May) or a song made out of only one instrument (Love Triangle) or even a song with only acoustic instruments over 6 minutes and in 3/4 time (Waltz Next?). The various challenges and time spans led to a more scattered and schizophrenic approach to songwriting, rather than a calculated method behind any of the madness. This coupled with the fact that Colin had no idea what he was doing during any of it leads to some of the most idiosyncratic, colorful, yet surprisingly accessible composition this side of... uhh... other musical diary challenge projects? Well it was going smoothly, but just as this album proves: through composition can always lead you to a path far from expectation!
